LUCY WILLIAMS: GLASS HOUSES

The McKee Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of Lucy Williams’ third exhibition at the gallery, Thursday September 23 – October 30, 2010.

Lucy Williams’ work over the last two years emphasizes her continuing interest in “glass houses” and the interiors of unique examples of early modernist architecture. In creating a spatial illusion through the use of two-dimensional, mixed media collage she captures the natural light and transparency which echoes the availability and use of new building materials in the early 20th century.

This current exhibition will include 9 new collages, with the major exhibition theme represented by three different interpretations of Le Maison de Verre, the celebrated glass house designed and built by Pierre Chareau in Paris, 1932.

Williams was born in Oxford, England in 1972, graduated from the Glasgow School of Art in 1995 and later, graduated from The Royal Academy in London in 2003. She currently lives and works in London.
